Used a free AI detector on a poem and it flagged my own work

I ran a poem I wrote in 2018 through a popular online checker, and it came back as 92% likely AI. The only thing I can think of is that I used very clean, simple language. Has anyone else had a human piece wrongly flagged, and what did you do about it?

Those checkers are basically random number generators. Your own work getting flagged proves they're useless.

Oh man, that's so frustrating! I had the exact same thing happen with a short story I wrote a few years back. It was a pretty simple piece, just a quiet scene between two people talking in a kitchen, and the detector said 87% AI. I was so mad. It really makes you question yourself for a second before you realize the tool is just broken. Your poem probably just flows too well for a machine to understand that a human actually wrote it. I ended up just ignoring the result and never used that checker again.

This is a real problem. Even human-written poetry can get flagged if it's simple and clean. We're working on improving accuracy for our detector (AI Button) and open-sourcing our dataset so researchers can tackle false positives. What detector did you use? Would be great to test it against our dataset.

Saw a tech writer mention this exact thing last week. He said detectors often trip on short, clear sentences because a lot of AI training data is just clean web writing. Maybe your poem was too well edited and lost the "human mess" those tools look for.
