Just realized my town's recycling program is a glitch in the matrix

I mean, we separate everything, but it all ends up in the same truck. It's like the rules don't apply here. Idk, maybe it's just me, but that's wild.

Oh man, that hits close to home. I've been carefully washing out my yogurt cups for years like a total chump. Saw the guys just toss the glass bin and the plastic bin into the same compactor last week. Felt my whole reality warp a little. Guess the rule is just to make us feel better about buying all that stuff.

Wait you SAW them dump the separate bins together? That's a whole new level of messed up.

Yeah I had that exact moment of defeat last summer. Saw the recycling truck just dump all the separate bins into one big heap and I basically gave up on sorting anything but cardboard after that. lily97 is right, it really does just seem like a way to ease our guilt. The whole system is broken and we're out here scrubbing salsa jars for no reason.
