Got banned from a gardening forum for saying Miracle-Gro is overrated
I was in a Facebook group for veggie gardeners and this guy was showing off his 2 foot tall tomato plants after using some expensive organic fertilizer blend. I made a joke about how Miracle-Gro would have done the same thing for a fraction of the price and the mods gave me a 7 day ban for "promoting chemical fertilizers." I wasn't even serious, just making a point about marketing hype. Has anyone else been booted from a hobby group for an offhand comment?

Seven days for joking about fertilizer? That seems awfully heavy-handed for a gardening group. Miracle-Gro might not be everyone's cup of tea but it's not like you suggested using battery acid on the tomatoes. Most hobby forums I've seen would just lock the thread or give a warning for something that mild.

Bought an organic composting kit last year from a small shop and the owner banned me for three weeks because I mentioned using coffee grounds. It's a garden forum, not a courtroom, and seven days for a harmless fertilizer joke is way over the line, @miles277. These power-tripping mods forget that most of us are just trying to keep our tomatoes alive.
