CityNet's fiber maintenance on Jefferson Ave has disrupted our POS system for three consecutive afternoons.
Switch to offline payment methods during their work hours to avoid transaction delays.

CityNet never learns. Their fiber maintenance regularly cuts off POS systems without sufficient notice. Last week, the hardware store on Maple lost hundreds in sales because cards declined for two hours. A friend who runs a bakery had to turn customers away when her terminal went offline during lunch rush. CityNet sends vague emails about "upgrades" but never specifies exact downtime. Small businesses end up eating the loss or dealing with cash-only chaos. Proper advance warning would let shops prepare alternative payment methods smoothly.

Hold up, CityNet might have legit reasons for short notice, like avoiding bigger outages. Idk, maybe it's on shops to have a cash buffer or mobile hotspots ready.

Trying to run a cash-only shift once when my POS died taught me humility, mostly because I can't do math in my head to save my life. I gave out wrong change for hours and probably owed customers money by the end of the day. CityNet's vague warnings feel like that, where you're scrambling without a net. Now I keep a cheat sheet for cash transactions, but it's still a mess. Honestly, their maintenance schedule might as well be a surprise pop quiz for small business owners.

About that fiber maintenance disrupting POS systems, I read in the local business newsletter that CityNet often does these upgrades without enough warning. Last month, I was installing flooring at a boutique on Jefferson and their card reader went out, so I had to invoice them later. It's these little hassles that make going solo feel lonely sometimes, dealing with all the hiccups alone.
