TIL a podcast host roasted my listening habits and it actually helped
I was deep into this conspiracy podcast called "The Signal Bar" out of Austin, and the host straight up said if you only listen to one side of a story you're just collecting noise. That hit me hard because I only ever listened to stuff that agreed with me. Now I force myself to check out at least two opposing podcasts on any big topic, and I feel way less like a parrot in arguments. Anyone else get called out by a host and actually change what they do?

Austin's The Signal Bar huh? I swear half those conspiracy podcasts are just a way for the host to sell t-shirts and overpriced ground coffee. @miam11 got roasted for the "did my own research" thing too. I saw that clip where they called them out for citing a YouTube video with a title like "VACCINES ARE POISON!!!! (not clickbait)" as their only source. That three minute Google search thing is brutal but honestly most people stop at the first Google result that tells them what they want to hear. My buddy still gets defensive when I remind him he once argued with a biologist on Twitter about how masks cause carbon dioxide poisoning. At least you guys took the hint and changed up your habits instead of doubling down.

Maybe it's just me but I got roasted by a podcast host for saying I "did my own research" on vaccines, and turns out Googling for three minutes doesn't count. Now I actually look at studies and stuff, but my ego is still healing from that callout. Sometimes you need a stranger on the internet to tell you you're being a clown, I guess.
