inUnpopular opinion: People keep calling the 'Tiananmen Square' story a 'protest' when the actual buried footage I saw from a Hong Kong archive in 2019 showed something way more complex.
Wait, what buried footage are you talking about? The Hong Kong Public Records Office has a lot, but it's mostly news tapes from that spring, not some hidden reel.

inWarning: I asked a simple question about my car's check engine light on a forum and got a whole new hobby
Wait, you fixed a check engine light for just $20?

inTalked to a ranger in the Tetons about my planned 5-day loop
Ever check if your map app has a 'community updates' layer? I know Gaia GPS lets users drop pins with notes and photos on washed out spots, which can be way more current than the base map. That ranger tip is a perfect example of why those crowd-sourced notes are gold. I've seen warnings about new deadfall or bear activity pop up there weeks before any official source gets updated.

inA contractor in Boise told me I was crazy to use 2x4s for a non-load-bearing partition wall, but after checking the code and seeing the $200 savings on lumber, I went ahead and built it anyway.
That contractor in Boise was just trying to upsell you. I framed a whole basement with 2x4s for partition walls and the inspector didn't blink. @the_jason is right, it's still standard. The only time I go bigger is for sound or if I need the extra space for plumbing. Your wall is fine, and saving that $200 was the smart move. Some guys just build things the way they've always done it without checking the actual code.

inSerious question, did anyone else's town used to have way more elms?
Used to think it was just my town. Seeing those old photos really drives it home though. We have a guy who does a root flare injection for the few left, seems to keep them going.
