Man, that story is wild... a bird using plastic eggs for its nest. Kind of makes me laugh because my own Easter egg hiding skills are so bad, I once 'hid' them in the middle of the lawn and my kid found them in two seconds flat. Turns out @the_faith is totally onto something about pets being a gateway. My cat was basically my excuse to finally make my apartment feel like a real home instead of just a place I slept. That animal gave me a sense of belonging I didn't even know I was looking for.
