Showerthought: Door contact placement with weather stripping has me puzzled.

Hey what about shimming the contact body itself instead of just the magnet? A little plastic spacer behind the bracket can save a ton of headache.

I finally saw my own habits in a book character after our club's debate on sleep

Isn't it possible that pulling an all-nighter can actually help in some situations? I've done it before when I had a big project due. Yeah, I felt tired the next day, but I got the work done. Sometimes you just need that extra time to focus without distractions. My body bounced back after a good sleep the next night. So maybe it's not all bad if it's once in a while.

Forcing myself to network never worked... my career grew when I let my work speak.

Man, that's everywhere once you start looking. Forced networking feels like those awkward dating apps, but real connections happen when you're just doing your thing at the gym or a book club. Same with parents trying to force kids into hobbies they hate versus seeing what actually sparks their curiosity. The best stuff, jobs or friends, always seems to come sideways when you're focused on doing good work, not on collecting business cards.

Clay soil broke my hand digging habit for good

Look at how power augers can pack the clay down real tight. They save time but might make the soil too hard for roots later on. Maybe it's just me but that's a trade off to think about.

I thought stone tools were simple until I studied them up close

It’s wild how they seem like just broken rocks until you really look. I had the same thing happen at a museum once, staring at a hand axe. The guide pointed out all the tiny flake scars and I just froze. You can see where someone’s grip wore the edge smooth over years. It totally changes how you see the people who made them.
