Serious question, had a chat with a friend who works in data privacy about the new AI memory features.

He said, 'They're not storing your chats, they're building a persistent model of you.' That hit different coming from him. Anyone else getting nervous about how these models are being trained to remember everything?

So what does that even mean for someone like me who can't remember what I had for breakfast? I already feel like my own brain's model is a bit buggy, and now I'm worried a computer's version of me will be more consistent. It's one thing to forget my own embarrassing moments, but having an AI that never forgets them is a whole other level of awkward. Your friend's way of putting it makes it sound less like a saved file and more like a digital twin that's always learning. That's way more personal than just storing chat logs, and yeah, it's a bit creepy. Does the idea of a persistent model bother you more than just having your data saved?

My friend's digital twin remembered her mom's birthday when she forgot last year. That kind of backup brain could actually be a useful tool, not just a creepy record. Maybe a consistent model of you is less about judgment and more about having a better memory aid.

a persistent model of you" oh great so now there's a version of me that's better at remembering stuff than I am. cool cool cool. guess I'll just let my digital twin handle all the awkward memories while I enjoy forgetting what I walked into the kitchen for.
