Hot take: Using a pole pruner with a rope saw attachment saved me 2 hours on a tricky maple removal yesterday

I had this big maple in a backyard in Springfield with a limb hanging right over a garden shed. Couldn't get the bucket truck in there and didn't want to climb it because the shed was in the way. A buddy told me to try a rope saw on my pole pruner - basically a little serrated blade on a cord you loop over the branch. I was skeptical but it worked way better than I expected. Cut through a 6 inch limb in about 3 minutes without even leaving the ground. Has anyone else tried this setup for tight spots where you can't climb?

Hold up, you're telling me a rope saw on a pole pruner is the solution and not just a recipe for getting that rope tangled around your own neck or whipping the shed windows? I'd rather spend extra time staging the climb than trust a floppy cord to make a clean cut on a 6 inch limb without something going wrong.

People really act like a rope saw is gonna spool out and take your head off or something lol. You can stage a climb all day but if you're already up there with a pole pruner you're not exactly doing gymnastic moves. A 6 inch limb isn't a steel beam, the rope's not gonna whip around like a demon if you've got good tension on it.
