Walked past a property I trimmed oaks at 3 years ago and barely recognized it

Back in 2021 I did a heavy crown reduction on a row of live oaks for a client in Sarasota, left them looking pretty bare. I drove by yesterday and those trees have filled in so thick you can't even see the house now. Has anyone else had a job that looked rough at first but turned out way better than you expected?

Did you check for storm damage or weak branch unions in all that new growth?

Went through the same thing a few years back with a client's red maples I had to thin out hard after a storm. Looked like I had hacked them up, honestly felt bad about it. Came back last spring and they were fuller than before, the canopy was nice and open. Changed my whole view on aggressive pruning, sometimes you gotta trust the process even when it looks rough at first.
