Worst week I've had climbing in 5 years - what's your nightmare story?
Last Tuesday I was up in a big red oak in Austin, took a deadwood branch to the shoulder and it knocked me off balance for a second. Then the next day my ground guy called in sick and I had to rig everything solo in the rain. Has anyone else had a week like that where everything goes sideways and you start wondering if you picked the wrong trade?

And that solo rain rigging is no joke. I had a week like that back in 2018 where my climber bailed last minute and I had to take the rope myself on a big water oak. The wind was whipping branches around and I felt every single one of those deadwood hits way more than usual because there was no one on the ground to call out the danger spots. By day three I was questioning everything I'd chosen to do with my life. It's those back to back days of bad luck that really mess with your head because you start thinking maybe it's not just bad luck anymore, maybe it's a sign.

Then my chipper threw a belt that same week and I just sat in the truck for twenty minutes.
