Got banned from a keto sub for posting a carb counter screenshot
Before 2018 you could argue your point about net carbs and get feedback, but now they just swing the ban hammer if you question the '20g rule.' What exactly shifted in that 4 year window to make a niche health board that hostile?

Maybe the mods just got tired of the same arguments over and over? Like every week someone would post that their urine strips were still dark purple and the 20g rule kept getting brought up. But the real shift might have been when the sub hit like 200k members and you couldnt manually approve everything. Was it something specific that set them off though, like a big influx of people from other diet subs?

There's that one nutrition researcher, I think his name is Ben Bikman or something similar, who did a podcast episode about this exact thing. He said the shift happened because the keto sub got flooded with people from r/loseit around 2018 who were more into strict calorie counting than actual ketosis. The mods started enforcing the 20g rule hard to weed out anyone trying to skirt around it with net carbs and fiber math. Plus, I heard the head mod at the time got really burned out from all the arguments and just started banning anyone who questioned the rule to keep the peace. It turned into a purity test thing where you had to follow the exact script or you were out.
