Just switched from a standard 4-inch grinder to a 6-inch for beveling plate edges in the shop.
The extra disc size cut my time on a 1-inch thick job by over half, and the finish was way cleaner. Anyone else find a tool upgrade that actually lived up to the hype?

Honestly, the "cleaner finish" part is huge. I feel like a lot of people only talk about speed, but that better finish saves so much time on cleanup later.

That's such a good point, @miam11. It's like when you use a really sharp knife to chop vegetables. The cut is cleaner, so you don't get juice and bits sprayed everywhere. You spend less time wiping down the counter. The upfront quality always pays off later.

Wasn't there a study about how bigger tools reduce vibration? I mean, that could explain the cleaner finish, since you're not fighting the tool as much. Makes total sense why it worked so well.
