Rant: I was convinced you needed a bone folder for every single crease

Watched a binder in Seattle use a polished river stone for 90% of the work, and my results got smoother after I tried it. Anyone else find a weird tool that works better than the 'right' one?

That binder in Seattle is onto something. I spent like twenty bucks on a fancy bone folder and honestly, my old library card does the same job for most simple creases. People get way too hung up on having the perfect tool when half the stuff around your house works fine. It's just folding paper, not rocket science.

That binder in Seattle is a legend, I heard they use that same stone on everything from pamphlet folds to leather covers. @jesse_cooper is right about the library card, but I'm curious about the other 10% of the work. What specific task did you see that stone not work for, where they finally picked up the bone folder?
