My non invasive BCI headset bricked itself 20 minutes before a demo at a lab in Austin
I was at a research lab on East MLK in Austin prepping a motor imagery demo for a small group of investors. The headset was one of those dry electrode rigs and the firmware updater froze on step 3 of 4, leaving the thing stuck in a boot loop with no recovery mode. I had 20 minutes and no backup unit, so I dug a backup EEG cap out of a supply closet, wired it into an open source decoder, and got roughly 62 percent accuracy on a binary cursor task, sloppy but enough to show. The company never gave me a fix, just a reset button combo buried in a forum post. Anyone else running into hardware that locks you out of your own device when a flash fails?
