Switched sides on EEG versus invasive implants after trying a Muse headband for 3 weeks

I always thought the only serious BCI was something like Neuralink's surgical setup. Then my nephew let me borrow his Muse 2 headband to help with my insomnia. After using it for 21 nights straight, I realized the feedback loop for meditation training was actually teaching my brain new patterns. Has anyone else found a consumer EEG device that made them change their mind about non-invasive approaches?

You said "teaching my brain new patterns" and that part is right, but the Muse doesn't really do that. It just gives you audio cues based on your brainwaves. The actual pattern changing is all you doing the meditation yourself. The headband is more like a mirror showing what your brain is doing in the moment. It's not actively training or changing anything on its own. Non-invasive stuff is getting better for sure, but it's still just a helper tool, not a brain teacher.

My buddy Dave tried one of those Mendi headbands for six months and said it totally changed how he handles panic attacks. He used to freeze up in meetings, now he just takes a breath and keeps going. Did you notice any carryover effect when you stopped using the Muse?
