Vent: The new warehouse in Tacoma has the worst picking system I've ever seen
I was there last Tuesday to check out their setup for a client, and their pickers were walking over 2 miles per shift just to fill basic orders. They had the fast-moving items stored in the back corner, which makes no sense. Has anyone else run into a layout that bad and managed to fix it without a full rebuild?

I saw a setup in a Spokane warehouse last year where they had the packing tape three aisles over from the shipping stations. The pickers looked like they were training for a marathon. In my experience, you can sometimes fix that by doing a simple ABC analysis of your SKU velocity and just swapping locations, no rebuild needed. It takes some grunt work to re-slot everything, but it cut travel time by almost half at my old place. Your mileage may vary, but it's worth a shot before you talk about knocking down walls.

Remember when they put the forklift charger in the back corner?

Did you actually run the ABC analysis yourself, or was that something a manager handed you on a spreadsheet? I'm asking because @the_wesley once told me about a place where the "analysis" was just someone guessing based on what they remembered selling last month.
