Vent: A customer in a 100-year-old house in Savannah had me questioning my coax routing method.
I spent half a day trying to fish a line through a plaster-and-lath wall before the homeowner pointed out an original servant's call bell conduit that ran perfectly to the basement. Anyone ever found a weird old building feature that saved a job?

Honestly that just sounds like a normal day in old construction. Those houses are full of weird little passages and chases. Not sure it's a huge deal, just got lucky. Happens to everyone who works in historic districts. You find a random pipe chase or a cold air return from an old furnace. It's not some magic fix, it's just part of the job. Next time you'll probably be crawling in a crawlspace for hours instead.

True, my last lucky find probably used up all my karma for the year. Now I'm just waiting for the universe to balance it out with a truly awful crawlspace. Guess that's the trade-off for working with old houses, right?
