Watching a documentary on the Three Gorges Dam and the number 22.5 million cubic meters of concrete used really put its scale into perspective for me.

That's more concrete than I've poured in my entire 30-year career, and it makes you think about the sheer logistical effort behind modern Chinese infrastructure projects.

Wait, hold on, back up. Twenty-two point five million cubic meters? I just did the math in my head and that is a stupid amount of concrete. That's like a solid block of it bigger than a whole neighborhood. The trucks for that would have to be lined up from here to the moon. How do you even keep it all wet while you're pouring? My brain can't handle that scale.

I mean, just the concrete trucks alone for that must have been a non-stop parade.

Ever wonder how they even plan the schedule for that? Like, do they have a dedicated traffic lane just for trucks, or does the whole city just accept gridlock for a week?
