Warning: Don't trust that guy's advice on scraping off rust with a wire wheel...
My old foreman told me to just hit the rust on our CNC bed with a wire wheel to clean it up quick. I did it, and it left micro scratches that threw off my surface plate readings by 0.002 inches on the next job. Ended up having to scrap the whole part and spent 3 hours re-surfacing the table. Has anyone else had a similar fix that backfired on them?

Ain't it funny how the quick fix always ends up costing you twice as much time? Reminds me of how people rush to paint over moldy drywall instead of cutting it out, then end up gutting the whole room six months later.

Man, that hurts just reading it. Nothing worse than a shortcut that ends up making you redo everything from scratch. Real talk, those little scratches turn into big problems real fast.
