Vent: My entire comic book collection got water damaged during a move last Tuesday

I was moving to a new apartment and a box labeled 'comics' got left in the rain by the movers for like an hour. I'm talking about 15 longboxes, including my full run of 'The Amazing Spider-Man' from the 80s. I managed to salvage most by laying them out on every flat surface in my place, but the covers on about 50 books are totally warped. I'm so torn between being mad at the moving company and just being heartbroken. Has anyone else had to deal with something like this and did you get any compensation?

Feel like this happens way too often now, where people just don't care about doing a job right. It's not just movers, it's everywhere. You pay for a service and get carelessness instead. That lack of pride in work means our important stuff, like your comics, just becomes another messed up box. Really hope their insurance makes it right, because that loss is about more than just money.

Honestly saw a thing about this last week where a moving company just left someone's stuff on the lawn in the rain. @shanewells is right, it's total negligence. Tbh it makes you wonder if anyone even checks the weather anymore.

Man, that's the kind of story that makes a collector's stomach drop. A full 80s Spider-Man run getting rained on is brutal. Definitely file a claim with the moving company, because that's straight-up negligence on their part. Hopefully they have insurance for this exact kind of clumsy move.
