Question about a banned book list in my old high school library
In 2019, the library had a whole section on gender identity and queer history, but I checked the online catalog last month and every single one of those titles is gone. The librarian said a new district policy 'reviewed content for age-appropriateness.' Has anyone else seen this kind of quiet purge happen where they live?

Our district pulled 12 books last year, but they were all legitimately graphic. Sometimes it's just a cleanup.

Legitimately graphic" is a pretty big claim, @knight.drew. What exactly got pulled?

@knight.drew, I think "cleanup" makes it sound way more neutral than it usually is. @the_uma, in my area they pulled a ton of books about puberty and identity, and the ones they left were mostly outdated stuff like "you're having a baby" from 1987. When a whole topic just vanishes from the catalog, it's not really a cleanup, it's a choice.
