I hit 500 confirmed AI slop posts flagged on my local buy/sell group

It felt like a weird milestone, but it showed me how much the noise has grown since maybe 2022. I started just calling out the obvious 'vintage' lamps that never existed. Anyone else tracking their own finds, or is that just me being extra?

My cousin tried to sell a bike last month and the listing got buried under six posts for "handmade" leather bags, all with the same weird stitched logo. The group admin gave up and just pinned a warning about AI art scams. It's turning these local pages into a weird digital flea market where half the stuff isn't real.

Honestly, is it that big a deal? People just scroll past the fake lamp posts. The real stuff like your cousin's bike still sells if the price is right. It's just spam, same as the old posts for miracle weight loss pills.

But have you tried to scroll past them lately? It's not just a few posts, it's pages of the same fake item from different accounts. The real stuff gets pushed down so fast it might as well not be there. The problem is it breaks the whole point of a local group, which was seeing actual things from actual neighbors. Now it feels like a feed full of ghosts.
