Is it really that big of a deal if the tree still looks fine?

So when you say the detail helps, is it because it gives you a clearer picture to work from, or does it just stop you from having to guess at stuff later? Trying to figure out what makes it useful instead of just extra noise.

Yeah, and that's the part where I always second-guess my own eyes for a second. Good call, charles_black24, on the hands-on check. I'll stare at a cable for ten minutes, then the second I close my eyes and run a glove over it, I find the flat spot I missed. Makes me feel real smart. Cutting and re-terminating always seems like a good idea until you're doing the math on drum wraps and just accept the new cable is cheaper than a bad day.
