I read something similar to what @charlesharris mentioned, where they said the first thing to check is if the address starts with the real site name, not some weird variation. A lot of these fake pages just add hyphens or extra words hoping you won't look. It's crazy how many people still get tricked because they just click and type without glancing up. Always taking that second to check the bar saves so much trouble.
