Hot take: Everyone pushes the 100-mile mark, but hitting 50 solo was my real turning point.
It happened on the Ozark Highlands Trail, and it forced me to slow down and actually see the place. Has anyone else found a smaller number more meaningful than the big, popular goals?

What was it about that 50 miles that changed things for you?

Wait, wasn't that a 40 mile section on the AT, not 50?

Used to chase big numbers too until a 40 mile section of the Appalachian Trail made me get it. @xenarobinson, it was about learning to hike the trail in front of you, not the one in your head.
