Finally got my skiff motor running after a full winter in the shed

It was just sitting there since October, and I was sure the carb was gummed up for good. I took it apart last weekend, cleaned every jet with a can of Berryman's, and put in fresh gas. Cranked it over yesterday evening on the trailer, and it fired right up on the third pull. That first puff of blue smoke out over the Knik River mudflats felt like a real victory. Anyone else have a spring ritual like this that always makes you nervous?

Hot take: My $75 donation to a campus free speech group was the best money I ever spent

I gave it after a professor at my school got in trouble just for showing a documentary with different political views. That small amount helped them print flyers and organize a real discussion that the administration tried to stop. Has anyone else seen a group actually make a difference with very little funding?

I just wrote about how I remember 'Berenstein' Bears, not 'Berenstain', and the response was huge. Anyone else have a conspiracy theory that just took off like that?

After 3 months of trying both, I found that a $15 hot air station from the flea market works better for phone screen repairs than my old $80 heat gun.

My buddy had the same thing happen with a cheap soldering iron from a garage sale. He does little board fixes for fun and swore his fancy adjustable one was the best. He tried the old five dollar one on a whim and said the tiny tip let him fix a busted game cartridge connector his good iron just melted. It's like what dakota379 said, the cheap stuff just clicks sometimes for a specific job. Makes you wonder how much we overthink our tool choices. Have you found other jobs where the simple tool wins?
