inRant: My entire video essay about a local protest got taken down without a real reason
What's the official line between news and misinformation now, showing up with a camera? Good call on posting the transcript, even if @the_eva is right that it was Abby's idea. The bots are so jumpy they'd probably flag a video of a grocery list if it mentioned current egg prices. At this point, filming a public tree planting might get taken down for promoting unverified foliage.

inOur neighborhood diner's ice maker started churning out cubes shaped like little stars
Wait, the owner knows there's a toy stuck in there and just leaves it? That's a health code thing, isn't it? A plastic toy melting in the water line for who knows how long. I'd be worried about what else is floating around in that machine.

inRemembering when an old-timer in Omaha called my broom finish 'too perfect'
Disagree with that old timer's advice. In my area we get brutal freeze-thaw cycles and a tight broom finish has always performed better for me. A finish that catches your nail is too open up here, it lets water and salt get in and spall the surface. I go for a medium-stiff broom and keep the pressure even to seal that top layer. Seen too many driveways turn to gravel after a few winters with a coarse finish.

inThe difference in visibility at the old Port of Tacoma dock is crazy now
You know, I used to roll my eyes at all the rules and red tape. Felt like it just slowed things down for no good reason. But @the_jesse is right, seeing a project go smooth because everyone actually read the manual is a total game changer. It turns out the rules were there for a reason all along. Kind of embarrassing how long it took me to get that.
