inMy kids keep tripping over my dive bags in the hallway.
Ugh, that sounds so familiar! We had a mountain of hiking gear that always ended up in the hallway. What finally worked for us was getting a big, cheap bin for the closet near the door. Now when we come inside, everything wet or dirty gets tossed straight into that bin. It's not perfect, but it keeps the floor clear and the stuff out of sight. That simple system saved us from tripping over boots all winter. Giving that gear a designated home made all the difference.

inMy cousin's DIY chimney clean almost burned their house down.
After a neighbor had a chimney fire, I made sure to always get a pro to clean it. They have the right tools to check for creosote buildup. It costs some money, but it's way better than risking a fire. Doing it this way has kept my home safe for years. Plus, they can spot other problems like cracks or blockages.

Weather sets the stage, humans write the tragedy.
